Do you know how to tell the difference between glass and crystal and the difference between regular crystal and Swarovski crystal?

Well, the appearance of crystal is different from glass to begin with. Crystal is just more “sparkly” and refractive. Glass is made somewhat differently as well. Calcium oxide is used in the making of simple glass. Crystal is made with lead, which is added in place of the calcium oxide. The lead content gives the crystal its softness and optical clarity. Light bends (refracts) when it passes through the crystal causing the beautiful sparkles.

Swarovski crystal is made in Austria, manufactured by the Daniel Swarovski Company and is world renowned for its brilliance and precision. Swarovski is a family owned business and their process for making their crystals is a well-kept secret.
